Winter season is here and your skin must be feeling dry. Often dryness leads to itching and redness of the skin. Use of winter special creams and lotions are essential but at the same time, there are many herbal remedies that you can apply and enjoy a flawless and glowing skin.
Since times immemorial natural herbs have been in use to cure various health-related problems. Also don’t forget the fact that in ancient times, our grannies and nannies have used these herbal remedies to enhance their beauty.
So, taking a cue from those old school ideas, here are some herbal superfoods for skin:
Turmeric
Turmeric is hugely used in Indian cuisine and carries antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties. From pimples to acne problems, dryness of the skin to providing a natural glow – turmeric can do a lot for your skin. Bring raw turmeric and use a grinder to make a fine paste of it. Take 1 tablespoon of turmeric paste and mix 1 tablespoon of yoghurt, half tablespoon of rose water, and half a tablespoon of gram flour. Apply this paste on your face, hand, and neck. Let it dry up and then wash it off. Use this pack every alternate day and see how your skin changes magically.
Aloe Vera
One of the best natural things to treat skin problems is Aloe Vera. You can extract Aloe Vera gel directly from your plant (of course check tutorials on how to extract the gel from Aloe Vera plant) or buy a tube of Aloe Vera gel. Apply it daily at night on your face and neck before going to sleep and observe a vast change in a week. You can also mix this gel with a tablespoon of honey and half tablespoon of rose water and massage your skin. Believe me, if you apply this mixture daily especially during the winter season, you won’t need any facial at all.
Chamomile
Chamomile is profusely used in cosmetics. It has anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, antibacterial, and antiseptic, properties. Chamomile contains antioxidants that help you get flawless skin. The mesmerizing fragrance of chamomile is a stress-buster. For skin irritation, chamomile oil can be applied. Just brew some chamomile tea and use it as facial water or as a foundation for your cream to achieve the best results. To get rid of pigmentation, acne problems, or to treat your dry skin, chamomile is very effective.
You can mix chamomile tea with oatmeal, honey, and almond oil and apply this face mask to treat your winter skin.
Rosemary
Rosemary is a famous herb that is often used in garnishing or cooking various types of foods. But do you know that rosemary can also provide a better elasticity to your skin? It also improves the blood circulation of the skin. Thus if you find any cream made with rosemary extract, don’t think twice to buy it. Also, know the fact that rosemary corrects pimples and acne. Rosemary essential oil is easily available and that can be used effectively on the skin.
After washing your face and wiping it with a soft cloth apply rosemary oil on your face with a cotton ball and let it sit for 15-20 minutes before applying your favourite moisturizer. The antioxidants in it will remove the signs of ageing apart from rendering natural softness and shine. To treat acne problems, you can mix primrose oil with rosemary oil and apply it on the affected areas.
Liquorice or Mulethi
Mulethi or liquorice is an essential herb that stimulates the blood circulation and that in return provides a fair and glowing skin complexion. The winter dryness of the skin will be treated with mulethi powder and the redness of the skin will also be corrected. It is often used to get lighter or fair complexion. Liquorice also provides an even tone to the skin. Just add 1 tablespoon of mulethi root powder to rose water to make a paste. Apply it on your face every day or every alternate day. You can also add a dash of honey to it and make it friendlier to your skin.
These superfoods for skin are easily available and you can thus implement the above-mentioned ways to shine through the winter season.
